8/16/2020 0 Comments Back to College during a PandemicHey guys! I'm back to school. I wanted to make a little update to talk about the start of the semester and going to school in a pandemic. This post might be a little all over the place because of that. For those of you who don't know, I'm studying Biomedical Science and I'm currently a sophomore. It's my second go at college(ing), so it will be a little easier, hopefully. Maybe not content wise, but just the logistics of it. Well, I'm actually certain that the content will be harder. Based on what I can tell so far, that is very true.
Moving in this year was a little stranger than normal. We could only have two people with us to move in and had to wear masks the entire time, which is understandable. This year I was able to get an Apartment Dorm so I'm really excited to be cooking a lot. Also, I met my roommates last week, and they're great. I'm taking approximately the same amount of credits as last year (17/18), but I don't have any fluff classes this semester. It's basically just major classes this semester. Here's a little break down on what I'm taking: Organic Chemistry, Anatomy, Genetics, Statistics, English, and 2 Labs. That is 7 classes and 18 credits worth of textbook readings and no free time :) I will probably despise myself for it, but oh well. I've done it before, so it shouldn't be too bad. I guess I could say that Genetics and Anatomy are going to be my favorite classes this semester. Chemistry will definitely be the hardest, just based on the teacher. Before starting college, I made the decision to get my bachelor's degree in three years instead of four, to save money. So, I knew going into it that I would be taking heavy class loads every semester. I'm still on track to graduate a year early. I'll probably end up taking some classes this next summer to make next year easier, but who knows. A class load like this can get very stressful at times, there's no doubt about it. I know I'll be stressed, I definitely was last year. Stress isn't the greatest for my colitis, and usually causes me to flare up, so let's hope that doesn't happen. It's basically a constant tug-of-war between doing what's best for my health and saving a years worth of money for college. Speaking of health, I'm really doing great right now. I've just been having a few hiccups with eating some foods. My university decided to go back early, due to the Coronavirus. Don't worry, I've been staying safe. Even though I had to be back on campus for my labs, and couldn't go fully remote, I'm doing my best to stay healthy. Classes started up almost two weeks ago. Last week was my first full week. It hasn't been too bad, but once the first exams start rolling in, I'll rethink that statement. So far, I've had a moderate amount of work. Not so many assignments, from what I can tell for the semester, but tons and tons of reading. Anyways, that's all for now:)
